FROM 1960’s RANCH TO REDWOOD FOREST RETREAT
Mill Valley, CA
A dark, low-slung 60’s era ranch home in Mill Valley, California is now flooded with light. Our clients came to us with schematic plans from local architects, Holder | Parlette. The architectural team had provided vertical solutions for the home adding tremendous light on the restricted, redwood forested property. We created interior spaces that extended the connection to the beautiful landscape using warm white oak and walnuts throughout the home. The living/dining area, once with an imposing brick fireplace, now features an open, airy centerpiece form designed with local Heath Ceramics and a towering, slatted chimney surround leading the eye upwards. We designed a sleek Siematic kitchen with a walnut table, and created the new 2nd floor primary bath that puts you in the heart of the hillside terrain.
